AQUA ZERO DIVE CENTRE is a locally owned and operated diver training facility. As well as teaching SCUBA diver training and operating a large dive club, we also stock quality watersports equipment for snorkellers, spearfishermen and SCUBA divers. We have spent 15 years analysing the pros and cons of the worlds best brands and have selected gear that is good value for money and suitable for our local conditions.
Since opening in October 1995 we have become part of the furniture in our local community, trading seven days a week. Our Dive Centre was the proud winner of the 1997 Small Business Award for the Most Outstanding Sport Store. The award was nominated by our customers and we have taken this as a vote of support for the way we do what we do.
Our shop is located right beside Swansea Channel, making it easy for customers who pull up at one of the Jetties across the road and we are ideally situated for those wishing to dive Swansea Bridge. The Bridge, as locals know it, is in the Top 10 Jetty Dives in Australia and is easily one of the Top Ten Shore Dives in NSW. We have personally recorded more than 210 species of fish from around the Bridge including Threatened Black Cod, Protected Estuary Cod and Blue Groper and at least 6 species of Sygnathids (Sea Horses and Pipefish). There is no Spearfishing allowed at the Bridge; making the site home to schools of large fish like Bream, Tarwhine, Surgeonfish, Kingfish, Pike, Samsonfish, Red Morwong and at warmer times of year Mangrove Jack, Giant Trevally and Amberjack.
This glorious piece of coastline is a wonderful area for diving and snorkeling and our aim is to show as many people as possible that you don't have to travel far for some fabulous dives. We have Shipwrecks (Shamrock 8 m deep, Bonnie Dundee 36 m deep, The Advance 48 m deep and more), Caverns, Catherine Hill Bay Coal Loader, Reef and Drift Dives, that are all worth exploring over and over again. Boat Dives are run twice a month at just $85 for a double.
If you wish to dive and stay in Swansea; First check out our monthly tide times and dive planner by clicking Whats On on the left hand side, then ring us to organise a personalised schedule and accomodation. We recommend staying at Blacksmiths Beach House which is one of the nicest venues I have seen and is only 2 minutes from our shop.
Involvement with Swansea High School, Belmont Christian College, Mount View High School, Avondale High and their Marine Studies, Snorkelling, and SCUBA Diving groups has provided the opportunity to educate our youth on the marine environment and the impact that people have on it. We even have an Under 18s section of our club called the Stingrays. Hopefully this will produce an attitude of respect and understanding for our waterways, so that generations to come can have the same fantastic experiences that we have in the water today.
Our social dive club has ages from 12 to 76 years and they make a habit of the BBQ's, bus trips, overseas holidays, club dinners...oh and of course some diving. Drop in some time and have a look around, you might be surprised what there is to see!
