Cavern Diver
Do you ever get the urge to explore the underwater caverns of the world? Then get your PADI Cavern Diver certification! To enroll in this course, you need to be at least a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) and 18 years of age.
Cavern diving is conducted within the light zone of a cave. The light zone is area near the entrance of the cave where you can see natural light at all times. Your program consists of at least four dives, which may be conducted over at least two days. The first dive will give you practice with the use of lines and reels and also emergency procedures. The other three dives are conducted in the cavern environment.
The PADI Cavern Diver course includes:
- The planning, organization procedures, techniques, problems, and hazards of cavern diving.
- Special equipment considerations including, but not limited to: lighting, guidelines, reel handling and redundant breathing systems.
- Proper body position and buoyancy control, air-consumption management and emergency procedures.
- Information that describes the specific hazards of cavern diving that include, but not be limited to: silting, line entanglement and breakage, disorientation from permanent lines and emergency situations unique to cavern diving.
