Open Water Diver

Thanks for your enquiry about learning to dive. You have just demonstrated the most important requirement as a new SCUBA Diver - curiosity!! The desire to explore our beautiful waters around New South Wales and beyond is the key to the magic of SCUBA diving.

Whatever your reason for learning to dive, we have the trained professionals to take you to the level of experience you want. Whether you simply wish to become a recreational diver and join the local diving scene, or even if this course is just the start of a career in diving, we can tailor your course to your needs.

The course involves five modules of diving theory, pool training and four ocean dives all conducted in our local area. This is a fantastic area to dive in with so many different habitat types and marine life forms that you could never grow tired of diving here. The dive under Swansea Bridge is rated in the top 10 Jetty Dives in Australia and is easily one of the best dives in NSW.

To make starting easy, your first SCUBA training is carried out in a pool. You start in waist deep water and after some practice, progress to the deeper end. You'll soon know the excitement and adventure the ocean has in store.

Your training is relaxed and you can concentrate on learning some easy skills. You will use these skills while exploring the beautiful underwater landscape and its inhabitants on your first open water dive. These dives will bring you face to face with a multitude of fascinating things; schools of fish, weird and wonderful invertebrates and corals of all colours. Soon you'll be a SCUBA diver with internationally recognised certification.

Our Open Water Diver course's have an average class size of four to six students. Included in the course are all snorkelling and SCUBA equipment, air fills, and access to our Dive Club facilities. We will also include a student pack that is yours to keep. In the pack is everything you need for your course, including manual, logbook, tables etc. We also provide you with your own silicon mouthpiece for health and hygiene reasons and a soft Mask Strap to increase your comfort level.

You will need to provide a SCUBA diving medical before we can take you in the water, as there are some conditions that may rule out SCUBA for some people. We have forms available at the shop and website, and phone numbers for local doctors who can do this for you. Don't worry though; this is not a strenuous physical sport, but a relaxing one.

Only average swimming ability is required to be a diver, so try practising a 200m swim and treading water for 10 minutes (not at the same time).

A really helpful inclusion is FREE 12 MONTHS MEMBERSHIP to our fabulous Dive Club, introducing you to great savings, excellent club events and great social dives you'll never forget. Access to our club dives and other social events means it is easy to find a buddy, explore new dive sites and never have to say 'what am I supposed to do now'.

As a Dive Club member, you will receive newsletters, email updates on dive conditions and activities, special sale offers, priority on all club trips, discounts on gear hire and air fills, also invitations to club social nights and BBQ's. Before long, your circle of friends will have doubled.

DON'T FORGET YOU'LL NEVER BE WITHOUT A BUDDY IN THE BIGGEST CLUB IN TOWN.
